Cats almost always fit the smallest urn size, up to 5kg, so there is no size surcharge to consider. We collect cats from homes and veterinary clinics throughout Kogarah and the surrounding suburbs, using the same process as for dogs.

Are there any additional fees?

The package price includes everything, including collection and return of the ashes. There are only 3 extra charges, and we will explain them before you confirm your booking:

After-hours fee (Monday to Friday, before 9am or after 5pm): +$165
Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and public holidays: +$250
Pets over 50kg: a 20% surcharge on the package price

If you book an after-hours collection, we may not be able to come until the next day, depending on which drivers are available in the Kogarah area. Either way, our team will contact you to confirm a pickup time, so you won’t be left waiting without knowing when we’ll arrive.

What should I do if my pet dies at home?

Take a moment first, as there is no need to hurry. When you are ready, place your dog or cat on their side on a towel or blanket, gently close their eyes and position their legs naturally in a curled pose. Do this within the first couple of hours, before the body becomes stiff. Put an old towel underneath because some fluid release is normal, and keep them cool and out of direct sunlight.

How quickly can you collect my pet in Kogarah?

We guarantee collection anywhere in Kogarah and the surrounding suburbs within 24 hours of confirming your booking. Book before 2pm on a business day and we can usually collect the same day during business hours at no extra cost. Bookings after 2pm are arranged for the next available collection.

You will receive a notification 30 minutes before the driver arrives. Your pet travels in a van prepared with flowers, greenery and a soft bed. After-hours or weekend collection attracts the fees above, and we will call to confirm the time.

Can you pick up my dog or cat from a vet in Kogarah?

Do you offer cremation for all pets in Kogarah?

Which urn size do I need for my dog or cat?

The right urn size depends on your pet’s weight. Our urns are sized for pets up to 5kg, 5 to 20kg, 20 to 35kg, 35 to 50kg and over 50kg. Most cats, rabbits and small dogs suit the smallest size, a Labrador generally fits the 20 to 35kg range, and larger breeds require the sizes above that.

You do not have to work it out alone. Tell us your pet’s approximate weight when booking and we will match an appropriate urn from your chosen collection.

Can I scatter my pet’s ashes?

Yes. We seal your pet’s urn by default, but you can request an unsealed urn or have the ashes returned in a scatter tube if you plan to scatter them. The Private Farewell package includes a scatter tube instead of an urn.

Many families around Kogarah’s important health and education centre choose the garden or another favourite local spot for their pet’s ashes. Scattering on your own property is generally fine. Before using parks, beaches or other public land, check with the local council or landholder.

Are your cremation services private?

Your pet is tracked from the moment they enter our care. They receive a unique tracking tag at collection, and our staff check it repeatedly at every stage, from the van to the crematorium and back to your door.

Your pet’s ashes are returned with their tracking ID and Certificate of Cremation. As every cremation is individual, the ashes belong to your pet alone.

Who is Buddy?

Buddy carries out your pet’s cremation as the service provider. After booking, you will receive updates from Buddy as your pet moves through each stage.

Does pet insurance cover cremation?

Some pet insurance policies include a cremation or end-of-life benefit, while others do not. Cover depends on your insurer and policy level, so check your product disclosure statement or speak with your insurer before booking if you intend to claim.

When your policy covers cremation, we can provide a copy of your payment receipt and Certificate of Cremation to support the claim.
