What should I do if my pet dies at home?

Can I scatter my pet’s ashes?

Yes. We normally seal the urn, but you can request an unsealed urn or have the ashes returned in a scatter tube if you plan to scatter them. The Private Farewell package provides a scatter tube instead of an urn.

Some Prestons families remember their pet in the area’s parks and open spaces, while others choose a garden or another favourite place. Scattering on your own property is generally fine, but check with the local council or landholder before using parks or other public land.

Who is Buddy?

Buddy carries out your pet’s cremation as the service provider. After booking, you receive notifications from Buddy as your pet progresses through each stage.

Does pet insurance cover cremation?

Some pet insurance policies include an end-of-life or cremation benefit, while others do not. Coverage depends on your insurer and level of cover, so check the product disclosure statement or speak with your insurer before booking if you intend to claim.
